Troika will be exhibiting Testing Time in Bread and Jam, a series of exhibitions taking place in a gutted and soon to be refurbished house in 52 Whitbread Road, Brockley, London.

Testing Time is a site-specific intervention, in which a water stream is brought to a halt in a disused boiler cabinet and time is visibly broken into distinct instances. Playing with the former function of the cupboard, Troika subtly interferes with our expectancies of what might be conceived as a banal occurrence; the ghost of a water leak becomes the manifestation of an unfamiliar, suspended time-zone.

Artists talk: Sat 26 Sep, 4pm.

Chaired by Phil Cairney.

Phil Cairney is a BAFTA nominated filmmaker and writer living in London. Documentary subjects for the BBC include David Bomberg, Walter Sickert, Edward Burra and Giorgio Vasari.  His films have been widely shown on BBC Television and at galleries including Pallant House and Tate Britain. Contributors and collaborators include Gustav Metzger, Keith Coventry and Iain Sinclair. Recent talks include the inaugural Art Screen in Glasgow and the Oxford Literary Festival.
Areas of special interest include: the relationship between architecture and memory, psychoanalysis, the 20th Century avant-garde, conceptual poetry, and the impact of digital technologies on the self.
